AFT-Maryland in conjunction with a number of community partners and union allies participated in the Alliance to Reclaim Our Schools (AROS) National Day of Action to #ReclaimOurSchools on Thursday January 19th at City Springs Elementary/Middle School in Baltimore. In addition to members of the state federation, sisters and brothers from the Metro Baltimore AFL-CIO were also present. Metro Baltimore AFL-CIO President Jermain Jones was in attendance, as were members of National Association of Letter Carriers (NALC) and The International Alliance of Theatrical Stage Employees (IATSE).

In the spirit of giving, consistent with the holiday season, members of the Baltimore County Federation of Public Employees (BCFPE) joined with AFL-CIO sisters and brothers to aid in the distribution of food and toys to families in need during the holiday season. President John Ripley and others were a part of the team putting together packages and handing out food and toys leading up to the Christmas Holiday. Read more on BCFPE's website at: http://bcfpe.md.aft.org

The AFT-Maryland and the Baltimore Teachers Union joined with the Alliance to Reclaim Our Schools (AROS) and participated in a national day of action on October 6th. The Baltimore action was a walk-in for the schools and communities ALL our children deserve. Although there were walk-ins all across Baltimore City, the AFT-Maryland focused on four schools in the Cherry Hill community. Staff and volunteers greeted students and parents at Cherry Hill Elementary/Middle, Arundel Elementary/Middle, Carter G. Woodson Elementary, and New Era Academy as they arrived at school.
