The Maryland/District of Columbia AFL-CIO will launch its electoral “Labor Kick-off and Canvas” events for endorsed candidates April 26, 2014. Events include a rally from 8:30 a.m. until 9:30 a.m., Labor to Labor Walks from 9:45 until 12:1500 p.m., and a luncheon meeting from 12:30 p.m. until 1:30 p.m.

The Kick-Off and Canvass activities are intended to rally Maryland voters to register and participate in the 2014 elections. Activities will launch from the Baltimore Teachers Union (BTU), 5800 Metro Drive, in Baltimore and from the UFCW Local 400, 4301 Garden City Drive in Landover, Maryland.

URGENT ACTION REQUIRED!!!!

The Senate Finance Committee will pass an amended version of Senate Bill 252, Task Force on Workplace Bullying in State Agencies, today.  Many Legislators do not believe that bullying is a problem in state agencies.  The amended version will set up two public hearings for individuals to state their experiences with bullying in state agencies.

Please contact Norman Conway, Chair of the Appropriations Committee, and urge him to pass the amended version of Senate Bill 252 out of his committee.  His phone number is 410-841-3407.   Legislative Session ends on April 7, 2014
