CUB Celebrates Summer with Crab Feast

Crabs were the order of the day at the City Union of Baltimore’s Crabfeast Saturday afternoon. President Antoinette Ryan-Johnson and the union welcomed more than one hundred members, family, and friends to the event which was held at Martin’s East in Middle River. Although crabs were the highlight of the gathering the event had a full menu. Attendees could have eaten fish, chicken, macaroni & cheese, string beans, mashed potatoes with gravy and a host of other delicious options.

Those who came not only ate well, but they partied hard. The dancefloor was packed every time there was a chance to do a line-dance with some folks even working out choreographed steps. The Cha-Cha Slide and the Wobble were among the most popular dances that got folks out on the floor and moving to the music.

CUB did acknowledge a faithful member who was retiring from Baltimore City. Don Waddy served as an engineering associate for more than 20 years. During that time he has been active in the union serving in a number of roles including as treasurer. President Ryan-Johnson presented him with a token of the union’s appreciation for his service to both the city and CUB. AFT-Maryland president Marietta English was on hand for the event as well and CUB president Ryan-Johnson acknowledged her and thanked her for mentorship and guidance.
