Farewell to Betty Pitt

It is with great sadness that we bid farewell to a long time friend and colleague. AFT-Maryland retiree, Betty Pitt, passed away on September 6, 2014. She will be greatly missed.

From her family:

Betty Rosalie Pitt (Rowan),78, of Bradenton FL, passed away at her Bradenton Fl home on Sept. 6, 2014, surrounded by her children and beloved dogs Poncho and Pablo.

Betty was born in Annapolis and graduated from Annapolis Senior High. She retired from the American Federation of Teachers-Maryland where she worked as an educators rights advocate within the Maryland Legislature.  She was very active in local and national politics.

After retirement she and her husband moved to Bradenton FL. Betty remained active with her community association and volunteered with the local election board. She enjoyed spending time at the beach, reading, gardening, playing cards and bingo

Betty is survived by her husband Manuel Don Pitt, their children, James and Jack Cullinane, Ray and John Pitt and Donna Reppard, grandchildren Brian, Cory, Shannon, Logan, David, Hallie and great grandson Brison.

Betty will be greatly missed by family and friends. Per her wishes she will be cremated and interred at a later date. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the SPCA, Breast Cancer Awareness or a charity of your choice.
