Plan your vote ahead of Election Day, November 3rd!
Because of the COVID-19 pandemic, many in-person voting centers will be closed or moved. That’s why AFT-Maryland is asking members to make a plan for how they will cast their vote this November. AFT-Maryland has created a Vote-Planning tool that members can use to help them plan ahead. To use the tool, visit aftmd.us/plantovote2020
There are three ways residents can vote in Maryland in 2020:
By mail
The easiest and safest way for people to vote is through mail. You may request a mail-in ballot be sent to you by calling your local board of elections or by visiting http://aftmd.us/onlinemailinrequest Requests must be made well in advance of October 20th.
Once you receive your ballot, you may return it any time before November 3rd via the post office or at an official Maryland Ballot Drop Box. For a list of drop boxes, visit https://elections.maryland.gov/voting or call your local board of elections.
In-person, early voting, October 26th through November 2nd
In order to avoid large crowds because of the pandemic, many people may choose to vote in person at an early voting center. Residents will be able to vote from 7:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. each day of early voting. Residents can vote at any of the early voting centers that are within the county in which they live, but they cannot vote early at a location outside of the county. For example, a resident of Baltimore City may vote at any of the early voting locations in Baltimore City, but cannot vote at an early voting location in Baltimore County.

In person, on election day at a special polling center, November 3rd
Because of the COVID-19 pandemic, many of the usual Election Day polling locations will be closed or moved. If residents absolutely must vote in person on Election Day, we strongly urge them to double-check to make sure they know their polling location. Election Day polling locations will be open between 7:00 a.m. and 8:00 p.m. Residents of a specific county may vote at any of the polling locations located in that county, but may not vote at a polling location outside of that county. For example, a resident of Baltimore City may vote at any of the Election Day polling locations in Baltimore City, but cannot vote at an Election Day Polling location in Baltimore County.
