AFL-CIO Members Give Back

Members from the unions that make up AFT-Maryland joined with sisters and brothers of the AFL-CIO to pack boxes for union and community families in need this holiday season. The Metropolitan Baltimore AFL-CIO annually packs boxes of food and provides toys for families of union members and to the greater Baltimore community. AFT-Maryland members worked side by side with members from across the region and in partnership with the United Way of Baltimore to help ensure that families would not go without this holiday season.

Over two days, members packed groceries in boxes and wrapped toys for families in need this holiday season. Union members also donated toys for families so everyone across the city can have a delicious meal and children can have toys to enjoy during the holiday. AFT-Maryland annually turns out in large force with members from various unions in the state federation donating their time, money, goods, and effort to their fellow Marylanders.

Community service is a large part of union activity and it is an important way AFT-Maryland contributes to the greater Baltimore community. While the state federation prioritizes its members and their workplace needs, being deeply involved in the community is an important way for labor unions to leave a mark beyond the workplace.
