AFT-Maryland at Union Night

Unions make everything in Baltimore better, including the struggling baseball team. During another rebuilding season with lots of losing, the Orioles pulled out a win on Union Night defeating the Toronto Blue Jays 6-3. AFT-Maryland was in attendance with family from the Metro Baltimore AFL-CIO to cheer on the birds. Union night is an annual evening where union members receive Orioles tickets for discounted prices with a portion of the proceeds going to the AFL-CIO Community Services of Central Maryland to help union members in their time of need.

The state federation was represented by leaders and members from several AFT-Maryland affiliate locals. Fans enjoyed a brisk summer evening to cheer on the Orioles. Fan restrictions due to COVID-19 prevented workers from enjoying union night in 2020, so organized labor and their families were eager to get back out to the ballpark this year.
