AFT Maryland members and staff were thrilled to participate once again this year with Metro Baltimore Council AFL-CIO in support of AFL-CIO Community Services' Holiday Food and Toy drive, helping to make the holidays brighter for those in need. New toys, non-perishable foods, and donations were collected throughout the season, and dozens of volunteers came together to sort, package, and distribute food baskets and toys. In addition, The Door Baltimore Urban Leadership Foundation (thedoorinc.org) made a donation of energy efficiency kits, which will be a boon to families' energy bills this winter season.
Our staff looks forward to this volunteer event every year, as do many of our locals' members, staff, and retirees. In addition to contributing to the toy & food drives, it is a festive atmosphere of coming together with our extended labor family, to provide this needed service for our community. We are grateful for the coordination efforts of the Metro Baltimore AFL-CIO and AFL-CIO Community Services, both during this annual tradition and all year long.
A big thank you to everyone who donated or came out to help!
