Lobby Night Trainings

In anticipation of the upcoming legislative session, AFT-Maryland held their first lobby night training. Political Coordinator Todd Reynolds and Legislative Director Terence Cooper explained to the activists what issues the federation would be fighting for in Annapolis. Those who attended the training were updated on issues ranging from the state worker pension fund, education funding, due process for School for the Deaf employees, and other issues that will be of interest to AFT-Maryland. Members and allies will be participating in a Lobby Night on Jan. 25th.

The meeting also covered a host of logistical issues. Those who attend the training will be well equipped to be captains and leaders to converse with the elected officials. They will know which state senators and delegates are in support of AFT-Maryland positions and which ones need more prodding. The training also equipped the engaged members to know which elected officials represent what districts, and our leaders can dispatch the members who are residents to their elected officials.

If you missed this training, there will be two more. One on January 5, 2016  and another on January 21, 2016.  Training takes place at Hearing and Speech Clinic: 5900 Metro Dr. Baltimore, MD 21215, next door to the AFT-Maryland office.

To RSVP, contact Todd Reynolds: 443-320-4719, or treynolds@aftmd.org.
