What does your 2% look like?

Maryland State Employees know about tightening our belts more than anyone. In the past few years, state employees have faced furloughs, pay cuts, frozen salaries, and hiring freezes that forced our agencies to do more with less. We know what it is to make sacrifices in the short term for the long term health and stability of the state in which we live and work.

Now, Governor Hogan plans to cut state worker pay by 2%. That may not be much to the Governor but to state workers who've already sacrificed so much, that 2% can be anything from medicine to child care or transportation costs.

AFT-Maryland is calling on Governor Hogan to stop his 2% cuts to state employees and agencies. Using the hashtag #My2Percent, we are asking members on social media to let the Governor know how losing two percent of your salary will affect you.

Join us by telling Governor Hogan what you will be losing if he moves forward with the cuts. Print out a sign and write in what a 2% paycut means to your budget, take a selfie, and post it to social media. Tweet Gov. @LarryHogan

MPEC, MCEA, and AFT Healthcare-MD members: use this sign.

Don't forget to use the #My2Percent hashtag!
