On Saturday, October 29, 2016, AFT-Maryland invited members from its affiliated unions to take part in an anti-bullying workshop held at the Federation’s offices. Cliff Denby and Sandra Davis of the Baltimore Teachers Union served as the facilitators for the event organized by AFT-Maryland’s Janell Edmonds. AFT-Maryland Healthcare President Debra Perry was in attendance, as was Baltimore County Federation of Public Health Nurses President Karen Pilecki.
Members learned about how to maintain a safe work environment in the face of aggressive fellow employees and hostile management. The AFT-Maryland has fought for workplace anti-bullying bills in the Maryland General Assembly last session. The Federation will continue to train members on how to deal with this issue and will work with the legislature and management to ensure that workplaces are safe, welcoming environments for employees.
