Balt. County African American Cultural Festival

The 2017 Baltimore County African American Cultural Festival is an annual event that brings citizens of all walks of life to the center of county politics to observe, engage, and enjoy African-American culture. There were a diverse array of vendors and sponsors on the scene this year and they provided valuable art and information to the attendees. Once again, AFT-Maryland was set up in the Education Village. There, the state federation passed out books, registered people to vote, and had personal hygiene bags available for students and families.

Members from across the federation were also out representing their respective workplaces and locals. Maryland Professional Employees Council (MPEC) was represented as was the Baltimore County Federation of Public Employees (BCFPE) and the Baltimore County Federation of Public Health Nurses (BCFPHN). Members greeted elected officials and stopped to take pictures with federation president Marietta English.

Federation president English was a hit at the festival. Baltimore County State’s Attorney Scott Shellenberger was eager to meet president English and told her how big a fan he was of hers, considering all she does for education not only in Baltimore city but across the state.  President English also made it a point to thank the members for their hard work at the respective agency and all they do to make the entire state federation of AFT-Maryland strong.
