Independence Day marked a turning point in American history. The start of a new chapter in the formation of a nation built on shared ideals and the pursuit of a better future. It’s a day to honor the courage of those who dared to imagine a future shaped by the will of the people.
But as we know, that was just the beginning. The promise of freedom has never been guaranteed. It’s been fought for time and again by generations of Americans, especially working people. From the first labor strikes to today’s organizing campaigns, workers have always been at the center of pushing this country to live up to its ideals. Every gain we’ve made, from paid sick leave to workplace safety, from collective bargaining rights to fair wages, has come through struggle and solidarity.
Today serves as a reminder of the power we hold when we stand together. Through persistence and tenacity, the United States won its independence. Through that same resolve, working people nationwide and here in Maryland have secured lasting change.
We’ve made it through the heatwave. Now it's time for us to enjoy a well-deserved break this long weekend. Whether it’s firing up the grill, watching the fireworks, or just enjoying some time with family and friends.
We thank you for your continued support and solidarity.
Happy Independence Day!
