Young people in Baltimore need not fear when Halloween rolls around because AFT-Maryland always brings the treats in our annual Trunk or Treat Event. The afternoon event is routinely supported by longtime collaborators with the state federation including A. Philip Randolph Institute- Baltimore Chapter, National Action Network Baltimore Chapter, and the Coalition of Labor Union Women and this year was no exception. The Arena Players parking lot once again served as the location for the event. Children from the community and a large number of youth participating in a program at the theater, came to the parking lot in their costumes to get a piece of candy from the trunks of cars. This year, for the first time, and after an introduction by a Baltimore Teachers Union delegate, the AFT recognized PSRP Week. In the past, PSRPs have been given just a day for recognition. The Baltimore Teachers Union provided small tokens of appreciation and hosted a joyful night of recreation for PSRPs. The recognition comes after AFT-Maryland, in conjunction with labor partners AFSCME, MSEA, and SEIU lobbied for and won bonuses for all Maryland education support personnel.... City Union of Baltimore OSHA Training

An important issue for City Union of Baltimore members has been workplace safety. Responding to that concern, the union facilitated an Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) 30-hour training for stewards. The training was a four day experience where members learned about federal regulations for proper health and safety protocols at the worksite.
